“Doing nothing is an art, and like all art you need to practice it to reach your highest potential.”
-Ken Abrams Newsletter, via @GoodVibeCoach

When I saw this today, it really resonated with me. Doing nothing is not the way I usually operate. The rules of alignment tell us action, for the sake of action, is not a very good way to manifest anything. Yet, I still ask myself “What should I do now?” Even when I decide I’m not working towards any goals now, I consider doing: meditating, putting myself in the feeling place of a goal, feeling my feelings, listening to music, calling someone… but these aren’t “doing nothing”. In fact, I’m failing in my attempt at doing nothing right now by deciding to share this!

It’s uncomfortable to NOT be doing something. However, when you act from that uncomfortableness, it won’t really help you towards what you want to achieve. When you relax (really relax, not stop and say: OK, I should relax so I can act), you get inspired to act. THOSE actions pack a whallop and are fun and effortless!

Instead of ask what you should do, can you just STOP? (pause.)

Oh, not just the actions though. Also what you are thinking about. Can you be still, and just do nothing and think nothing? (pause. chirp, chirp.)

So try this – make an effort to do nothing. Sound funny? Yeah, but give it a try. Let me know how it goes!

For me, this is something that takes practice.  So I’ll post this and get back to practicing!

When I started using Pray Rain Journaling from Jeanette Maw (an excellent manifesting tool!), she mentioned that “normal” journaling is generally about reviewing what happened during the day and your thoughts on that. That tends to cement the vibration, not shift it. And it’s true, if you just remember what happened and write about how you feel, you just get more into that vibration, giving you more of the same.
But.. you can accept what happened during your day. By accepting what happened, and allowing the feeling now (if you didn’t then) you remove the charge from it. It’s no longer “I’m so angry that he was rude to me.” (vibration of anger)  it’s “Yes, he was rude to me, and I didn’t feel very good.” (vibration of boredom or better?)
It’s one of Hale Dwoskin’s 6 Release methods, the one Jamie Smart talks about, and sounds a lot like surrender that Eckhart Tolle talks about. It’s also my favorite, because you are actually feeling your feelings. And when you do, they stop controlling you.
So if you used to journal but stopped because it kept your vibe the same, try again.. but this time instead of wallowing in the feelings, allow them to be there, and see how fast they say “Thanks for having me, I think I’ll go now!”

(I suppose this is where the “For Smart People” really comes in!)

I keep seeing suggestions to make sure you  feel worthy and can accept what you are asking for. True, the idea of $1 million a month in income may just break your comfort level (and bring up relationship and tax related anxieties), but do you really need to feel worthy of it?

This approach seems to be holding a few assumptions:

  • Certain things are hard to get
  • Not everyone – esepeciallly me! – deserves to get them

What it seems everyone focuses on is the “No, I’m different – *I* deserve it. I am worthy!” to counter the second assumption. I’m sure to a certain extent that works.

But it sounds like you are bashing your head against the wall, since you are ignoring some BASIC premises of LoA:

  • Nothing is hard for the Universe/G-D. I’m sure you’ve heard it many times – but do you really believe it? “If you can manifest $1, you can manifest $10 million dollars.” I get flash of “Yeah right” as I write those words. Therefore, I’m continually creating in my reality that some things are harder than others.
  • You are already deserving. (And everyone else, too.) You are alive. Stop and realize – how amazing is that? It’s literally a miracle. And since you have that anything else is really kinda small. Really. (Thanks Jamie Smart for actually saying that. Haven’t really seen it much.)

As Abraham says, if you “If you can imagine it, the Universe can deliver it to you.” Not because you deserve it, but because you can imagine it. You get what you align with – not because you deserve it, but as a matter of course: you get what you align with.

Let’s end with a twist on a great saying:

  1. You can have small stuff really easily and quickly.
  2. It’s all small stuff.

I welcome your comments! I only saw one person, very, very briefly explicitly address this topic.
