If you have thoughts that prevent your happiness or limit you (don’t we all!!!) then The Work is an excellent thing to look into.

I’ve been hearing about it for months in the Personal Development and Law of Attraction communities, but haven’t spent any time understanding it until recently.

Here’s a short intro video (3:30) on The Work – enjoy!

(See the video on youtube.)

I read a very cool article by psychologist Richard Wiseman about being a lucky person.
He ran a bunch of experiments, surveys, all that cool stuff.
His end result? Basically… Law of attraction – who would have guessed?!

He says that luck comes from believing that you are lucky, being in touch with your emotions, having a positive outlook, and knowing that everything that happens is for the best.

He mentions he ran a “Luck School” to help people be more lucky.
In that light, I’m thrilled to offer a 2 free week course by email on those factors.
It’s loads of fun, and I’m looking forward to seeing you there!

There’s a little more info here if you want.

You may have already begun to realize that you get what you expect you will get – and you continue to keep expecting what you’ve been expecting. So can you change what you expect?

[Hearing this one a few days later, I was a little iffy about uploading this one - I would explain it a little different - but I figured you would still like to hear it.] (2:13 video)

What do you think?

Try this amazing technique if you want to improve your visualization and be able to focus better on your goals.

This post is inspired by Cybernetic Transposition by Stuart Lichtman – an awesome book for gaining alignment! (aff link, since it’s great!)

What happens when you write and cultivate your visualizations on paper?

“One does not become enlightened by imagining figures of light, but by making the darkness conscious.”~C.G. Jung (via @miaverstraete)

The LoA approach is to focus on what you want. Sometimes, that’s a bit difficult – in that case, the common is to feel better (choose a better feeling thought) or to focus more on what you want.

I often find that difficult – shoving aside negative feelings or thoughts, and trying to move to the light.

Instead, I often try to just be aware and notice the negative that already exists in my vibe. I’m not activating a negative vibe – it’s always been there – I’m merely turning the light on. As I stop repressing it and running away from it – when I simply notice it and say “Huh, it’s interesting that that’s here!” it starts to lose it’s hold on me. Now that I’m aware, I can face it head on without being vaguely bothered by something.

It’s similar to a written process from Creative Visualization by Shakti Gawain- take a piece of paper and write “Why can’t I get what I want?” and allow the thoughts to come to mind. Sit with your list and see which ones really resonate with you. You can release on those, but the very fact that you notice resistance will begin to let it go.

How do you deal with resistance?

When we plan to accomplish something, we want to do it in the best way. “Work smarter, not harder” is the approach to go by, supposedly.

But sometimes.. the smarter way just isn’t fun. For example, I enjoy reading books about personal development. I also am impressed with many speed reading processes, specifically photoreading. With lots of practice (which I haven’t done) they start to feel second-nature, but as of now, it often seems like an annoyance. By sticking to “I want to work smarter” and do things effeciently, I just “killed” the joy of reading – and by trying to be more efficient, I started avoiding it!

So yes, it may be slower… but can you plan a way that’s more enjoyable?
Instead of asking “how can I do this in the smartest, most effecient way?” ask “how can I do this so that I enjoy and it raises my vibe?”

What have you been putting off because you felt you should do it a certain way, even though you would love to do it in your own way? Here’s your permission to pursue it in your own way! If you have specific examples, please share!

p.s. for a longer post on this topic, check out Steve Pavlina’s excellent post on this subject.

(I suppose this is where the “For Smart People” really comes in!)

I keep seeing suggestions to make sure you  feel worthy and can accept what you are asking for. True, the idea of $1 million a month in income may just break your comfort level (and bring up relationship and tax related anxieties), but do you really need to feel worthy of it?

This approach seems to be holding a few assumptions:

  • Certain things are hard to get
  • Not everyone – esepeciallly me! – deserves to get them

What it seems everyone focuses on is the “No, I’m different – *I* deserve it. I am worthy!” to counter the second assumption. I’m sure to a certain extent that works.

But it sounds like you are bashing your head against the wall, since you are ignoring some BASIC premises of LoA:

  • Nothing is hard for the Universe/G-D. I’m sure you’ve heard it many times – but do you really believe it? “If you can manifest $1, you can manifest $10 million dollars.” I get flash of “Yeah right” as I write those words. Therefore, I’m continually creating in my reality that some things are harder than others.
  • You are already deserving. (And everyone else, too.) You are alive. Stop and realize – how amazing is that? It’s literally a miracle. And since you have that anything else is really kinda small. Really. (Thanks Jamie Smart for actually saying that. Haven’t really seen it much.)

As Abraham says, if you “If you can imagine it, the Universe can deliver it to you.” Not because you deserve it, but because you can imagine it. You get what you align with – not because you deserve it, but as a matter of course: you get what you align with.

Let’s end with a twist on a great saying:

  1. You can have small stuff really easily and quickly.
  2. It’s all small stuff.

I welcome your comments! I only saw one person, very, very briefly explicitly address this topic.
